beverly hills, california, USA - Added on 11/29/01 at 21:56:41This message from an Arab American. I can understand how the lawyer run U.S. isn't too popular in Egypt or the Arab Nation due their support & funding of their zionist jewish masters occupation army on Arab lands. I would like to request your publication and others in Egypt to help to educate the people about the source of the problems here in the U.S. which is something called the "legal caste" (all 3 branches of U.S. government dominated by LAWYERS). It is these lawyers dominating the U.S. government who openly bow before their zionist, jewish masters and take orders from them. This is important for the people to know because the problem is not the U.S. military as they only take orders and it is not the American people (average citizen) as they don't make the foreign policies. The problem comes from a LAWYER RUN United States government and you should now run articles to help educate the people of the Middle East about the ones responsible for making U.S. foreign policies & supporting a foreign occupation army on Arab lands?

los angeles, california , USA - Added on 11/13/01 at 20:27:58Dear Samir Max Lieberman built another villa in Zamalek on what is now Gabalaya St.i.e. on the narow branch of the Nile. I believe it is on the opposite corner of the Lebon Building. The Villa was built for Colonel Cloue, a Frenchman who became Moslem and married Zeinab Al-Sakkaf, from the Singapour branch of this, I believe, originally Saudi family. Zeinab's brother Omar was at Cambridge with my father and the two developed a very close friendship. Zeinab fell in love with the Khalifa house and asked permission from my parents to copy it and commissioned Max Lieberman to do it. Keep up the good work I enjoy it. Also if you have questions on Zamalek please ask me. Being older I might sometimes know a few tidbits that nobody else does. Best regards Ibrahim Khalifa

Perth, Western Australia - Added on 10/13/01 at 21:52:02I just found your website today. I was reading the article on your home page called "Sept 11". I think it is very interesting. I've also been reading editorials and commentaries from the Egyptian Press that express a viewpoint that I've never heard before. America does have free press but we do not have an objective press. It is full of propaganda and rhetoric and rarely ever presents both viewpoints in a dispute with equal recognition. Most Americans are very ignorant of the Arab culture. All they know is what the American press has shown them and that is subjective and sensationalistic. If anything good is to come of the horrible events during this past month, I hope it is that we will all gain a greater understanding of one another. I believe the American people are reaching out now trying to understand. Book stores around the country report record sales of books on the Middle East and Islam. I wish that other Americans could read some of what I've been reading today on this site and on the Egyptian State Information Site. Here's hoping for more and deeper communication between us as PEOPLE not governments.

Anderson, USA - Added on 10/02/01 at 12:22:23My heart is broken. On August 9,2001, as my plane lifted from the runway in Cairo, the tears filled my eyes. I was leaving my beloved Egypt. After a lifetime of dreaming about seeing "my Egypt" my dream had finally come true. But now I was leaving. I found myself missing everything about it. The sites, the smells, the sounds, the people. Oh how I loved the people! And now this! I am torn. I hear what is being said in the US about Arabs, Muslims. I become upset, insulted. I find myself "taking it personally" because I have so much love for them. Then I see on the news... Egyptians in Cairo, cheering in the streets, after the news of the World Trade Disaster... and my heart aches. I peer at the TV screen. Praying not to recognize a face. "Please don't let any of these people be one who I smiled with, laughed with, thought genuinely liked me!" Yes, my heart broke to see such death and heartache here in America, to see an entire people that I love being persecuted and harassed. Then it broke again to see some of those same people celebrating such senseless carnage. There is no point I am trying to make. I feel so torn, so hurt, so let down... by all who I love.

USA - Added on 02/27/01 at 18:17:48I very much enjoyed reading some of the articles regarding the architecture and social history of Cairo/Egypt at the turn of the century. Good job! I do have, however, a criticism. You seem to be perfectly comfortable with the fact that Egypt was, for the longest time, owned and controlled by foreigners. You seem to long for a colonial era when our "masters", in their magnanimous beauty and civilization, controlled all the ressources of which ordinary Egyptians (the true custodians of our country's soul) were summarily deprived. You never touch on the extemely negative effects, both material and psychological, that the so-called cosmopolitan nature of our cities had on us. Why is that?

ottawa, canada - Added on 01/31/01 at 09:25:44I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to live in Cairo from January 1999 to May 2000. From Maadi to Mohandiseen (where we lived) I got to see Cairo from a resident's point of view and not just as a tourist. We were invited into people's homes, attended two Egyptian weddings, and felt the rhythm of daily life with all the normal stuff...going to the market and pharmacy, buying produce from the donkey cart man, and eating in places most tourists would avoid. By watching old black and white Arabic movies on TV, I caught a glimpse of the Cairo from a few decades back. Of course Khan el Khalili, the pyramids, Saqqara, and the Museum were wonderful. Isn't it strange that an American can live there for a short time but become almost homesick for it? Are there any other Americans out there who feel the same? I'm looking forward to vacationing there, hopefully later this year, so I can see the friends I met (and have some cappucino and a shisha!)

Toronto, Canada - Added on 01/23/01 at 10:58:58I mail you yesterday a question : i'm looking for an article published in La Gazette Egyptienne on January 7th 2001, about a Reggae Raï album composed by Kamel Hamadi, Martin Meissonnier and Sly & Robbie. I am public relation for this album, and I would like to have it in my press book. Don't hesitate to ask me any question you'd like to. Berst regards Isabelle Lémann

PARIS, FRANCE - Added on 01/16/01 at 04:10:59Hello to egy.com from Berkeley, USA. Really, I don't know much about Egypt, I've never been there , but it looks like a pretty interesting place. Also, you have an interesting story about this queen and the Canadian Embassy. Here, in the US, I've met some Canadians myself, and they seem to be mostly well-meaning, but they can be a little weird at times.

Berkeley, California, US of A - Added on 01/09/01 at 22:38:14I was born in Alexandria Egypt and was deported in June 1967 when Egypt was defeated during the 6-day war and after being jailed in atrocious and inhumane conditions. I liked very much the people but not the politics of Adbel Nasser. Before his regime it was a good experience. If anyone would like to contact me specially any old friend who I lost contact with, please don't hesitate to e-mail me. Salomon Castro
